How do I clean the MAF on 91 3FE? Luckily I had the working MAF on the 92 6ft away. I can seem to find the sensor wire

You have a VAF and there is nothing to clean unless the swing door is blocked or not functioning. Usually the temp sensor dies or people try to take it apart at the plug and break all the solder connections. Toyota considers this a non serviceable part.

Have you heard of anyone fixing these if the temperature sensor fails? Or is it garbage at that point?

Send them to Bavarian restoration. They are a BMW shop but work on the cruiser vaf’s often.

Interesting thanks. This is the second to fail.

Here's the quote from Bavarian Restoration. "Yes we can $365 shipped domestically with a 45 day lead time. Thank you."

It fires up with starting fluid then dies. no fuel feeding. I replaced it with one on 92 and it runs perfectly.
Sounds like someone tried to disconnect the vaf by removing "the screws" and damaged the circuit/contacts for the fuel cutoff. The fuel pump gets power for initial startup through the circuit opening relay but after a second or two the fuel cutoff in the vaf becomes the power source. In this case, before sending it out for a $365 repair feed, I would open the cover on the top of the vaf and check continuity of cutoff contacts and all the solder connections. If that does not work and provided you don't destroy the circuit board you can still send if out for repair.

This one ran fine for over a year.
