1992, 3FE, been running GREAT! Idle is smooth at a low 650. Took it on some long trips and 3rd gear 65 mph up hills. Running really good!

Lately though, it'll hesitate. It's every other time I drive it so a couple of times a week. No rhyme or reason to it. Been a monh or so.

I checked if the EFI relay was getting hot and it's not.

I put a can or so of B12 though the gas tank, no help, but again, it's every other time I drive it.

Could it be electric? Fusible link? I don't think so. Electrical issues typically leave me stranded.

What to look at first:
1. Basic tune-up (plugs, wires, rotor, cap). It's been awhile. I have the parts, but it's been running so good lately, didn't want to mess with it.
2. Replace the charcoal filter canister thing? That seems fairly easy. Sucks hard when take off gas cap.
3. Replace the fuel filter, I got a spare one, but it's such a pain.
4. Fuel gadgets (pressure regulator and damper). I got new ones, but these are a bitch to get to.
5. Fuel sock in top of gas tank. It's original. I figured the B12 would desolve the pieces getting through. Seems like a lot of work also.

Any 2 cents would be appreciated.

This post cracks me up.
You have all the parts but can't be bothered replacing them? I guess you should keep on buying parts and putting them in boxes. Maybe it'll fix itself.

Check the fuel pressure first and see what it is and take it from there . That is pretty stright forward and doesn't require much work . Heck if you notice the pressure low then swap the fuel filter my friend. It's not so bad man

Working on the 3FE is literally as easy as it gets man, ample of room in the engine bay. Try working on the FD RX7, the vacuum diagram alone is more complicated than replacing head gaskets....lol

Jon Held - I'm pacing myself. . . .

June/July is canoe time, it's been having this issue off and on for a while, hasn't left me stranded, but concerned.

In a couple of weeks, I can start maintenance. 1st on the list is replacing the fuel line and rubber cv joint covers on my 1987 4Runner to make it more road worthy.

Then to the Land Cruiser - tune-up first (check for hesitation), replace the throttle position sensor (bottom mounting screw is difficult to get to, or I already would have) (check for hesitation), then I'll check the fuel pressure, replace fuel filter, then check it again (good idea!). If it still hesitates - I'll replace the fuel pressure gauge and damper. Hopefully that fixes the hesitation, now I'll have 2 road worthy classic Toyota SUV's.

I have the parts and have been told by the shop that the front axel needs rebuilding (3rd time in 22 years of ownership). I'm waiting for nice fall weather for that one - will take a few weeknights. It's post-covid, so weekends are full of catching up!

Last weekend was at The Farm, late night we got to talking if the old Land Cruiser can drive down the ford (fiord?) like it did 10-15 years ago, river was up a bit and a little water came through the passenger side doors when she fell in a hole on the right, but she did just fine, drove her to work Monday. LOVE THAT VEHICLE!

Tune up worked! New plugs (checked gap on each before installing), rotor cap, and wires. Hasn't hesitated since.

Guess I was just behind on normal maintenance.
