Thanks for the links and picts of your builds Brian of O and Biker Smurf. Of all the searches and reading I did I never saw these. I needed to go to 19 1/2 on the engine set back otherwise the rear driveshaft would have been a CV joint with flanges.

I layed in my steering shaft and it looks like my clearance is good. The closest point is to the frame rail not the manifold.

Pulled the tub back off last night to start scoping out what I need for fuel lines. 72 FJ40 Chevota Build

While the tubs off I'll lift everything another 1 3/8 - 1 1/2.

For those of you with Firestein motor mounts, do any of you have a Saginaw P/S conversion kit? Will the steering shaft clear the motor mounts?

I have the Firestein/Bier mounts under my 96 5.7l Vortec and I have no problems with the steering shaft to my Sag steering box. If I were to do it all again, though, I would build my own mounts instead of using the Firestein mounts. I modified them so much to get the engine where I wanted it that I could have built similar mounts from scratch with less effort. The Firestein mounts work best as a tool for determining engine placement, since you can try multiple positions by changing bolt positions.
