The PO of my 40 did a 350 conversion and the engine only fires when I release the key from the "start" position. The motor will turn over and over in the "start" position, but will not fire until the key is released. This seems weird to me. Is there a resistor, or something that needs to be pulled from the wiring? Any help is greatly appreciated!

sounds like it... i had the same thing happen to a 55 chevy we were working on... try taking power from a different source..

when turning the key motor would turn over but not fire.. it would try to fire when we released the key. i think we ended up feeding power to motor from a direct keyed source.
