Looks like we may get some snow the next couple of days:clap:

We have had some chatter about making a snow run down FS 327 so may be this Sunday (Dec 27) would be a good day to make a snow run. Anyone want to join me?

Yea, I'm interested!

Justin and Air Randy are going to try and make it!

im a maybe, My output on my PS box is GONE, so i need to pull the pitman arm and slap in a new one..

Lets meet at the Western station at 9:00am.

That would be perfect, I could sign in for my IC run at 8:00 and then head up there.

(SSSHHHHHH, don't tell anyone Scott!, I promise I will run after the snow run!)

I think by the end of the day Sunday I will be VERY tired of snow, drive in it all day, then go run in it for 15 miles!

Is this the address for the meeting place at 0900 hrs?

Western Convenience Stores
20421 E US Highway 24
Woodland Park, CO 80863-8922

Rui,

I'm not sure about the street address, but that sounds about right. I think that there is only one Western gas station in Woodland Park. The Western is on the way uphill (right side) on RT 24 just before (1 mile) you get to Woodland Park.

I am hopefully going to leave Manitou just after 0800, then go straight up to somewhere on 300 and unload. Is the plan to go 327 right away, or are we doing other trails first?

Looking at the map, looks like this is the one. Well I got the brake master cylinder replaced, the chains are cut and the rust holes are duck taped. Let's see if we can make it there... I will be on 146.52 simplex.

I'm not sure anybody else on this run has a 2M (I have my license, but no radio yet), but if you get this and have a SWR meter handy, you could bring it along - I just put a new CB antenna on my truck and it could probably use some tuning.

I don't have an SWR meter for 11 meters but I do have an antenna analyzer that covers HF and VHF...I have to see if I've got enough batteries for it....

We ended up with three 40's (Don, Rui, Justin), one 60 (Chuck) and one 80, with a new winch, (Eric) on the snow run. Everyone had two sets of chains and that was a good thing because we needed them. We made it a long way down 327 with Don in the lead with his 40. Don's front ujoint in the CV joint gave out so he was going to turn around and start heading back out while the rest of use continued on. Don had some trouble getting backed up and off to the side of the trail to let us by so I tried pulling him backwards. I ended up braking something in my front axle which we think is the short side shaft. We all decided to turn around and head back out at this point. After lots of pulling, winching and shoveling we made it back out just before dark.

Yea, definitely a fun run - glad we didn't have to shovel more then we did though! And breaking parts is never fun, though who knows what we would have been into if we hadn't turned around there.

When it rains it pours!
Chuck pulled in to 323 on our way out to help me load the 40. The truck BARELY started. (she is plugged in now and will check it out in the morning)
Then, after I got home and walked around the trailer to check everything, I had a SHREDDED tire. Not sure when it happened. It was the last of 4 tires I bought from H&H less than two years ago. Oh, well, like Chuck said, it gives you a chance to upgrade.
I still feel terrible for something in his axle breaking pulling my broke Cruiser.
Ended up making it out in mostly 2 wheel HI, some 4 lo when needed (praying the shaft wouldn't go all the way and take everything else out with it.
Overall had a blast and things could have been a LOT worse.
It was great seeing the 40's out in numbers!
