"Z" Bracket
OK, Freeman and I have been PMing over some of this stuff. I've come to the conclusion that this mounting apparatus isn't clear yet, so I'm posting a couple more pictures to help clarify.
The clutch slave is mounted to the rear drivers side (in LHD configuration) engine mount bracket.
The rearward hole of the slave is bolted directly to a hole on the engine mount bracket.
The frontward hole of the slave is attached by a "Z" shaped bracket to the engine mount. It is "10" in this picture from SOR.
The Z bracket goes behind the frontward hole of the slave, and is bolted to the slave by the special bolt that also forms the pivot for the bellcrank (boomerang)
On the outside of the clutch slave there is a second bracket (75 in the figure) that essentially is there to hold the return spring for the clutch arm.
I've taken these extra pictures to try to illustrate this better. It's a little hard to comprehend (for me, anyway) with just a bag of parts in your hand.
So my pictures show
1) The arrangement from below. You can see the L bracket on the front of the slave and the front lower bolt of the engine mount bracket.
2) From above.
3) These are the different styles of bellcranks. The top one is tapped for and has a grease zerk. It also has the bronze bushing, which is essential for fit, removed (you can see it sitting there). The lower crank is not tapped and has the bushing inside. It is my guess that the zerk was a later revision.
4) You can see why floorshifts are the choice preferred by many...
