I know I know... Im on that also.. Circuit city has a sale on a Cannon EOS 20D with a lense.. Im just waiting on confirmation of the credit app through my wife. I should also know that sometime this week. :) then I still have to wait 5-10 days before It gets to me.. Doh.. I shoud have something before I drop in the Cummins.. If not, Ill take lots of pcits.. .. BTW, when I took picts of my 6" lift.. I spent a little over 200 bucks on all the film I used in two days.. So Im gonna have to get a Digi asap.

Wensday night, Un hooked most of all wiring and engine items.. Only fuel lines, hood and motor mounts left. Ill take all but the motor mounts off tomarrow. Friday night I will pull the engine out and saturday or sunday Ill drop in the Cummins. Ill have picts by the weekend.

Well, I finally removed the toyota engine tonight, hardest part was dragging it up the driveway. I have some picts of the truck with the body lift, and a few with what I have done since last week. Unfortuantally, one roll of film did not turn out.. I think the sun got to it.. So, I will post some pictures later on this afternoon. Other than that.. im tired, So Untill then.

Here are some picts of the body lift after installation, You can see the gap is much larger in the rear now than it was before. Also picts of the engine.
Well, I cant post picts..
how do i erase my old ones?

Ron, Rename your new pictures. You cannot upload different pictures with the same file name.

Alright, Well I joined the board, and now have more room to spare. No picts of the removal yet.. Its a good thing I decided to do it last night.. Cause I dont think I could have done it as safe. I ended up using my neighbors dolly last night to wheel it up the drive way. If not, It would still be sitting on the side walk . One good think about the rain though, .. Is that it wont look like ive been working on the road with spilled oils. All washed away with some tide detergent. Ill get some more picts of the engine removal by monday or tuesday. as well as some new close ups of the body lift.

I wasent able to do much yesterday on the occasion of Rain, I was able to make a pallet to hold the toyota engine, And I stripped the Cummins of its un nessary parts to lighten the load a little. I am however, In need of custom motor mounts. I think 3/8"- 1/2" Steel Plate will do for this. When Ill beable to get to that, I do not know.. But as soon as the Mounts are fabbed up, I can drop her in and go from there. Id like to do it myself, But Im not much of a fabricator. If anyone knows someone good, Id appreatiate it.

I borrowed a friends digi, and took a few picts of the engines side by side. I wont beable to take picts of the truck untill this weekend due to lack of lighting.

Its really not, only about 3 or so inches higher. Plus, in the pictures, Its sitting on a larger pallet. Im working on the motor mounts right now. Got some scrap steel stock from work, So tomarrow Ill have to cut them down some more, test them again. Ill know tomarrow night if they need to be shorter or notched. If not, Ill drill the holes and start on the side supports. If all goes as planend, Ill beable to weld and mount the engine this weekend.

Hey Ron,
What are you doing with the old motor/accessories? I can think of more than a few parts I'd prefer to have spares of to rebuild prior to pulling the old one off my rig... (i.e. starter contacts)

Mike

Well, I wont beable to drop the engine in this weekend, due to the fact that I dont have the engine mounts finished. Ill have to go into work early next week so I can finish them. I have the Engine plates done, But I still need the frame plate and the connecting plates.
Right now, I do not know what I am going to do with the engine/tranny/transfercase. For now, Im going to sit on it.

Well, Plans have changed, and I will beable to drop in the Cummins this weekend. I should have picts sometime during the week. Spike let me use his shop, and I finished up the mounts. Tomorrow well figure out how we can get this all to work. Heres a pic of the empty engine bay untill then.

Well, Unfortuantally, My motor mounts didnt work.. though the engine and transmission are in. I think I will have to possibly cut the old frame mounts off, and weld on new ones. I dont know how Im going to do that.. but Im sure Ill find away. Fortuantally, there was not too much rain fall were I live, just a sprinkle every now an then.
Here are some picts of what she looks like.

You still gonna be able to use the mounts you fabbed?
Maybe you can remove the frame mounts so that they can be reused.

Im sure I can, .. Ill just have to cut off the lips, and then find away to weld it to the body.. but Ill still need a rubber mount to go inbetween them.

Well, This project keeps on getting better and better. Ill get the Cummins and transmission mounted to the frame this weekend. Ill also order up one of the
Atlas 4-speeds. The down side to all this, Is that Ill have to change my rear axel to a centered diff. instead of an off centered one like the one I have, which means new axle(s) and fuel tank. Its not really a problem... But, since ive gone this far..
I was thinking about the Portal Tek Axles. From what Ive read and heard, they are far superior than the stock axles, and I shouldnt have to worry about the added weight or power of the Cummins. The only down side is that it will cost me somewhere around
9-14K for the set, and ill probably have to remove the 3" body lift I just put in. Ill find out about the price tomarrow

  :hillbilly
In other words...........
I'm speechless:cheers:

Did you figure out a way to lower the engine? I thought the intake was too tall, almost in contact with the hood as it is.

You'd probably be alright with the body lift, you'd just need to go to lower springs than what you have now.

Or, hood scoop!
