Under the hood
A few months ago my son blew a rod in his 1990 4runner. Rather than try and rebuild one of Toyotas worst engines, I picked up a '96 4runner that someone stole the transmission from. The engine supposedly had just been rebuilt, but it was the jankiest shadetree rebuild ever. One valve was split and one cylinder had water sitting in it. I rebuilt the motor and had the head done.

Im in the process of piecing together the wiring now, and I cant think of why I would need the Diagnostic Port AND the OBDII port. For those of you who have done this swap: what did you do with the diagnostic port on the intake?

keep the obd2 port its very important. the underhood is not
Cheers - I wired in the OBDII. I just couldn't figure out why I would need both. I can't think of anything I can get via OBDI that I cant get from OBDII? Appreciate your input.
