My wifes AWD Highlander is fun to drive, but I'm totally happy with my 4Runner. If the weather is going to get bad, I can lock the hubs and leave it in 2wd till I hit the bad stuff, and shift on the fly into 4wd.... In fact, my hubs have been locked for a few weeks now..... Too bad there's no snow!

Well check this out... AA is practically calling the AX15 a R150/R151...

http://www.atlas-tc.com/pdf/712/712561.pdf

"The AX15 is found behind the AMC 258 and the Mopar 4.0L (242 ci) I6 engine. The AX15 is also found in Dakota trucks and is closely related to the Toyota R151 as found in the Supra Turbo and Four Runner, though the case rear halves and gear ratios vary. It is also related to or referred to as the AN5, AR5, MA5 in GM and Isuzu applications. "

The Jeep New Process / NVG 242 Transfer Case

"The 242 has a driver's side front output and centerline rear output. The NP242 features two ranges; a low range gear that is a respectable 2.72-to-1 low and a direct-drive in high range. It features three drive modes; 2wd, full-time 4wd and part-time 4wd, yielding:
  • two-wheel-drive, high (direct-drive)
  • four-wheel-drive, high (48/52 differential torque-biased-drive)
  • four-wheel-drive, high (locked, part-time)
  • neutral
  • four-wheel-drive, low (locked, reduction-drive)"

I'm also drawing a line from the NP242 to the AW4 or A340's and A343's in Landcruisers...:D

Working on it...

Heep NP242..

IIRC, there is also a "revolver" or "Over Under" for Heep cases that lets you clock them up-side-down.. All NP cases that I know of can be clocked. This just lets you keep on clock'n:D

It also came behind the AW4 tranny,,, oh here! :p
