Is there anyone here familiar with the 2nd gen Tundra platform?

I was thinking about the Tundra's shortcomings and I kept coming back to the long wheelbase (145 inches for double cab and crewmax). The Regular Cab offers a much more attractive 126 inch wheelbase.

Is there any reason why I could not replace the double cab frame with a regular cab frame? I know I might need a new fuel tank and a drive shaft from a regular cab, but I don't think there would be much custom work involved since I would be just re-configuring Toyota parts.

The Tundra Frame is straight until the rear where it rises to accommodate the rear axle. My biggest question: Is there enough room on the 126" frame for the double cab to sit before the frame starts to rise for the rear axle? I was not able to find any schematics of the tundra frames.

This might be obviously impossible, so please say so if it is. Thanks!

Here are some pics of the two trucks.

with the time and money... anything is possible, would be a cool build

but just looking at pics i would doubt there is enough room

could always do regular cab and camper top for added interior room
