Clean the little filter in the ingoing line too! (nothing there in mine 230000km)

When it was done and forgotten I try sometimes to press it in but it is rock hard.
When I found that I have a original 70 liter tank an no 90 liters I used it quite often :D:bang:

Just thought I'd add the part number I used to replace my primer pump today. I noticed that everyone's using a different part no from the one I used...part no: 2 447 010 038.

I initially thought that removing the old primer pump would be hard. Well it was, until I used two hands on a regular 24mm crescent wrench...no crows-foot required. I then took out the old one, NO SPILLS of diesel, maybe cos I had cracked the bleeder a little to release some pressure.

My one mistake was removing the little black plunger and spring that was in the pump, thinking it would not be required. Well it seemed like no pressure without it,. So open up the new one (17mm) and put it back in.

I also took the opportunity to change the fuel filter as well. Filled up the new filter with diesel and screwed it in. Pumped my new primer pump a couple of times, filled up about half of a rattlecan cap and called it good. No air bubbles that I could see. Started up the car and no issues at all.

I was worried I'd be leaking diesel all over the place, but was pleasantly surprised. And then I knocked over the bloody rattlecan cap all over the floor.

That what's the diesel shop sold me (2 447 010 038), work way better than the leaky original pump I had. I've change my fuel filter twice with virtually no mess compared then before!

And replacing the primer pump was somewhat similar than you Mark, not messy and straightforward.
