I got to the point where we took the head off of the block, and the amount of carbon buildup on the pistons was very concerning, and what looked like oxidation? I guess this particular engine was running very rich. Also saw what looked like metal pieces in the bottom of the oil pan. It looks like this one was also on borrowed time before it needed to be rebuilt. I need to check the head for any cracks. The gasket was also pretty much glued onto the block.

If its metal it came from somewhere. What do the bearings look like?
