why would a slave cylinder be mounted on the passenger side of a 2f? Can i swap the F engine bracket to the 2f to mount the slave cylinder on the drivers side?

thanks

Because that's the side where the release fork sticks out. US spec FJ60s are all on the pass side - we're talking about left hand drive trucks right? Not sure about Fs though.

yeah left hand drive fj-40, and i bought a '78 2f for a '69 fj-40 but the slave cylinder is on the passenger side of the engine.

does anyone know if i can swap the engine mount from an f engine that had the slave cylindermount and bracket on the driver side to the 2f engine?

thanks

I went through a mount delema myself when I rebuilt my F, couldn't remember which one went where when I put it together. To answer your question, no you can't swap sides. The passenger side mount drops down where as the drivers side is straight. You would have to make a mount on the top od the frame like the driver's side.

You can swap the F mount for the 2F mount if you are still using the 3 spd tranny with the TO arm on the DS. If you are using a 4spd trany then just use the 2F mount on the PS and extend your hard line over the firewall then down to a soft line. The mounts do not swap side to side but either F series mount will bolt up to either side; it all depends on the tranny/TO arm.

lengthen the hose

do you recommend legthening the soft hydraulic hose to accomodate the passenger side slave cylinder or just swap the engine mounts from the f to the 2f to keep the slave cylinder on the drivers side?

thanks

2f

Agree with DD113.

I did the same swap a few months ago. Swapped in a 75 2f in a 70 body. I used the whole drive system from the 2f. motor, trans and transfer. All in one piece. Very easy to do.

All I needed to do was bend a new hard line (using a beer bottle) from the clutch master over the engine and next to the firewall then down to the rubber line of the clutch slave. About 4 bucks at the pep boys for the line.

I did not have to or need to mess with the motor mounts at all. It was a direct bolt in. You do need to re use the bolts from the F motor however.

The only other thing is extending the alt lines as the alt is on the other side of the motor as well.

let me know if you need pics, I can get some.

I am pretty stoked about getting rid of the 3 on the tree and having a floor shift transfer.
