Is/has anyone here run the 2bbl intake that SOR lists for the 3 port E-67 head? I am thinking of trying one out on a '66 40 that is comming my way. My other option would be to go with a latter F head. Any comments would be welcome, nice board by the way, thanks.

If you have the early F135 engine (not many left) it is the siamese port type and the later head will not work as far as I know. That is one really obscure piece you are looking for. Mark A. might be the only one who has one (or has even seen one?). Perhaps post this on the FJ25 site as well.

Or a few.:grinpimp: [including NOS!]

leadvagas, I'm curious as to your interest. My D-40 has enough flow to get the F135 up to 80mph [ask Mace if you don't believe me] and I outran Calico Kid's fuel injected Montero on the way home from the East Mojave a few weeks ago, running long stretches at 70+. How fast do you need to go?

Best

Mark A.

Thanks for the reponses guys. I don't need to go faster, I just find that the latter 2bbl (like the non USA 2F carb) off road a lot better than the D-40. So my quest is to build an F135 for off road primarily.

I am running a 69 2bbl head on an early f-135 block. I don't recall
any major problems adapting it though I did it many years ago (
in fact it has been on several different blocks). It did seem to improve
top end performance.

That just means the D-40 needs to be tweaked. Float level on those is VERY sensitive. A 1/16th of an inch can make a BIG difference off road.

Mark. When you say float level is very sensitive. Does it need to be absolutely in the middle of the window? Does this apply to the small-window and large-window D40 carbs?

Russell, the truth is....results may vary. Honest.:)
