12 volt PUMA Air Compressor
The 12 volt PUMA mini air compressor has a 1 hp 12 volt DC motor and comes with a pressure switch and a 1.5 US gallon storage tank. The dimensions are 17” L by 17” H by 7.5” W and weighs 34 lbs. The 12 volt PUMA produces 3.4 cfm at 40 psi and 3.0 cfm at 90 psi, capable of running a 3/8” impact wrench all day long. The primary purpose of the PUMA is to fill big tires, which the single ARB locker compressors are not designed to do. The PUMA 12 volt unit sells for around $250 in the US (try Buzzard Gulch) and is not available in Canada.
Unfortunately most 24 volt cruisers can’t use the 12 volt PUMA because of its large power draw, unless you install an expensive high amperage 24v-12v converter (possibly 50 amps).

I have looked at the 24 volt air compressors available, assuming they are ordered from US suppliers assuming no brokerage fees (i.e. pick-up in US).
Cost and Performance
I have two new 24 volt PUMA air compressors for sale. They were made in Taiwan as part of a limited production run. Cost is $350 fob Calgary.
The PUMA works out to be slightly over $100 per CFM (100% duty cycle), which represents a better bang for the buck compared to the higher performing ARB CKMTA 24.
The 24 volt PUMA may be more powerful than the 12 volt unit, but I have not tested that yet.

- VIAIR 330 -- 0.81 cfm at 40 psi and 0.66 cfm at 90 psi (100% duty cycle). Cost is $290 with shipping to a US border town with 5% border tax.
- The new ARB CKMTA 24 – 4.3 cfm at 40 psi and 3.00 at 90 psi. Cost is $540 with shipping to a US border town with border tax. Price in BC quoted at $720 with taxes)
