Bat Cave mine - Wikipedia

That it is the movie. Would interesting to see if anything is left of the mine. Not sure but believe that actually mine was on the north side of the canyon and the area with the road was on the south. Believe the old buildings were is where the bat guane was processed. In the movie the only way to the mine was by the a cable car.

Following the link sounds like by plane is the only public access to the area. There as to be a road but would be across the Hualapai reservation. In the movie there was also a small run down town on a hill side.

Interesting tidbit - based on my Garmin tracking points I started driving down Antelope Valley Road on Friday morning at 10:39 and passed the same spot on Monday morning at 10:51. Three days and twelve minutes round trip.

Curious what was your route back? Thought from St. George would head down to Las Vegas. Looks like you east on a paved road north of your path west?

My "West" path was through the Monument. Did a full circle and headed back south through Flagstaff.
