Hello!

I have a habit of buying LC and then not using them.

Purchased in Aug 21, clean and clear title, clean everything. Not a scratch on it. Full Xpel protection on front of vehicle up to A Pillar.

CLEAN and basically new. Been in garage every day. On only 6000 miles on this beautiful machine.

$115,000 Firm.

This silver HE sold on BaT had the top bidder not pay so it went to the next person. Also said it was located in Palo Alto (from some of the photos look like San Carlos) but it was actually owned by RMR 4x4's Birmingham, Alabama when it was sold and went through a few dealers prior to that. Be interesting to see where the white one goes.

There are a lot of people who have money. Not many have FU money and people who have FU money are not chasing the LCs. I would never buy an "in demand" car on BaT.
Curious how you got the intel on that silver truck. Mind sharing?

I do not believe the information is correct. RMR won the auction.
You can get a lot of information for free or you can also get information from connected people. I guess you can also pay for it.
I’m confused. I know RMR purchased the silver HE through the BaT auction. I agree you can get a lot of information from various sources. The issue is credibility of that information.

Sorry I had the days mixed up in my scraping. Thats fixed. You are right RMR did purchase it who then turned around to sell it about month later. RMR has a bunch low mile LCs

Beden1099 won. That user is gone now and defaulted to RMR. Anyways probably stop talking about all of these on this thread.

No. You are wrong again. Beden1099 is with RMR. He changed his username recently. You should really talk to your sources about good intel. And yes, you should stop talking.

Thank you for clearing up some info.

Still doesn't explain how cars on BaT sell for considerably more (15-30%).

**EDIT**
Please look at PPP loans used car dealers.

The explanation is simple. Auction style transaction. If I'm trying to buy something I want and can see in real time that someone else is trying to buy it, I'm going to keep bidding. BaT has really changed how specialty cars transact.

Christies and Bonhams have been selling forever. You pay the 25% fee and they handle all the payments, shipping etc. Valuable stuff you can buy at a premium. Mecum (is fun) does the same thing and I think at 6% or reserve at 10%. Some of the things on Christies and Bonhams are also the washing of money.

BaT charges the 5% on a CC to the buyer. Then give buyer/seller contact info. How do you know if the price of the auction was actually achieved? You don't. Is BaT that much more superior than the other discount car auction site? I don’t think so, but how are they achieving 20-30k premiums (in some cases a lot more). I agree BaT found a niche, people liking simplicity, easy and no contact. Events of 2020 helped a lot. But the competition is right behind BaT. You also have CarMax, Vroom, Carvana etc simplifying the whole process and BaT doesn’t even come close to those sales. I know there is excitement to bidding but I also don’t think BaT will survive the test of time.

These isolated (on BaT) and not verifiable premiums, have every person/dealer thinking (or hoping) they can get a premium price. (Wholesale auctions do not support the Premium BaT prices).

When I order a GT3, I have to have ordered one before or have had multiple Porsches prior to that. People will offer 30-50k to get your place in line to get a new one (not so much anymore). Buying one used (at a premium) is a way to bypass that or you have a silver tongue like my friend who gets one new, special order and under MSRP.

3-4k LC sold per year and probably 1.2k is of those are HE’s in total. Only a handful of LCs for sale in the last year. Plenty more to come. The very isolated listings that take-off have some scheme going on to evade taxes or washing money. So many ways you can do it.

Wow, just came back to check, did not realize all the replies. I understand it is high price, I am not trying to rip anyone off. I will be honest, I paid $95K before tax and fees. This was one of the last HE in white and NEW. I picked it up in Portland and drove it home. I have other vehicles and just dont need this LC. I had a 2018 LC and sold it at 29K miles to a fellow mudder. Car was mint. Got bit by the LC bug again, and purchased this one. In no rush to sell. My parents had the 100s growing up. My dream was to buy the first LC I could once I had the cash. If the right buyer comes, great. Otherwise, maybe when I have kids I will start using this beautiful machine. I appreciate all of you replying!

Speaking on BAT and even Cars & Bids I would not put it past some folks to make shill bids to drive those values up. I will say I am a little surprised that the LC market has held strong this late into the year, especially when it appeared to be softening as the calendar turned over to 2023. Some people out there either have lots of money or more money than sense.

I don’t think you are that out of line on price, and of course you are not going to start with a low price on a non-auction listing. If the classic car market is any indicator, given enough time, a low mile HE 200 will appreciate in value and $115k will seem cheap.

I love ih8mud forums, but this is one of many examples of why I doubt I would ever list a car for sale here. People just can’t see something they think is overpriced and move along. They just have to crap all over someone’s listing. It’s too bad mod’s do not police this section and keep it to specific questions and answers related to the listing and less about people’s reactions, opinions, and personal budgets.
