Anyone from the Louisiana area going? I read about this last year I wanted to go but a new born in last September could not get away. I have a fj55 would love to make it up there. I would trailer her behind the tundra. Never wheeled before but very interested in coming.

There is a big Louisiana presence at SCC. Two LA clubs (LA Land Krewesers from the Northshore area and Bayou State Land Cruisers from Lafayette) attend every year. It's one of the best events you'll find. There's trails for every skill level and helpful folks to guide you along.

Sorry for all the questions. I am guessimg this may not be the best atmosphere to bring young kids? I have a 4 year old and 1 year by the time the event takes place. Trying to see if I bring the whole group or Mom and Dad have date weekend wheeling. Are there hotels near by? Wife will not tent camp just yet. Plus like said never wheeled beside little mud riding.

There will be lots of kids there. Usually more than I can count on 2 hands.
SCC16 (280).webp

Ok I am trying to work out the details looks like a go on my end.
There are hotels a few miles away. We stay at Panther Valley Ranch which is less than half a mile from the park.

If it is just me this trip I can sleep in the Cruiser or the Tundra I am not picky. But if the wife goes it will have to be a cabin or Hotel. She is not much for roughing it.

The little cabins at KOA are nice, but based on your parameters, you should know that they are just a little one room cabin with a TV and beds. The bath house must still be used for shower and potty runs. We stayed there a couple years ago, nice enough, but might not be what your wife is looking for. Panther Valley is nice, but I suspect it may be booked up already, they have a web site you could google them and double check. Edit: just checked, they all booked up.

Hot Springs proper is only about 15-20 minute drive from the park so the hotels aren't too far away, as long as you don't enjoy the band or @Land Speeder's jar collection too much :D

There are a few cabins at KOA with bath.

Oh yeah, they were all booked when we started looking that year.

Lots of kids around the whole weekend. I think last year we had nearly 40 kids under the age of 12 on Saturday night.

The cabins with bathrooms are great at the KOA and they are less than 10 minutes away.

The closest hotel thats not 100% seedy is the Red Roof Inn. 1125 E Grand Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901

On the other side of Hot Springs there are all the usuals Hampton Inn etc....

Does this event fill up? I.e., do I need to register stat or is it good if I wait a little closer to event.

You can wait if you like. Please register before we cut off registration to guarantee that you get an event shirt. Of course, we did have 30 walk up registrations last year and we are planning on that again this year.
