I’m looking to purchase a 16 or newer LC and have come across a couple concerning posts about the 8spd transmission. Wanted to check in and see if these problems are still persisting or have since been remedied or were isolated incidences. Thanks for any input.

OP - I'm not sure you can get a definitive answer to your question.

Why, because 16+ vehicles just aren't old enough yet.

I have around 22K miles on my '17 and have had zero issues - 10K of that was a road trip that involved on-highway, off-highway, flat ground, mountains, and most everything in-between.

I just bought a MY15, and the concerns about 8-speed were a factor in my choice. Just one of the factors, others were price, the awful monitors in the seats. I am also not sold on the facelifted hood, it looks to me it may decrease visibility, but I have not sat in one, so can't say. I also prefer the old style center console, especially given the limited storage in the front row the truck has otherwise.

How reliable or not it is I guess no one really knows... I prefer tried and true.

Thank you glad to hear it’s treating you well.

That same thinking also has me considering a a 2015. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I'd be more concerned that the 8-speeds are 3/10s of a second slower to 60mph and quarter mile! Ok maybe not but having a newer truck that's even the slightest bit slower is not a bonus in my book.
