Terms are different auction to auction. It has been a long time since I was in the business but the LC sold on manheim which offers returns if you buy a post sale inspection unless specifically sold "As-Is" and it fails on anything important. They could also be looked at/driven on the lot prior to auction . Most newer, expensive vehicle are sold available with a guarantee if you purchase the PSI as sellers get substantially less if they mark is As-Is since its a huge red flag on newer cars. Most seller also do a pre sale inspection to help buyers. The 4.0 rating is based on a report of someone at the auction going over the car and making note of issues they see.
I dont see any reason to avoid an auction car unless it does not check out. That should be the most important part, a proper pre-purchase inspection done at Toyota.

I have no experience on any auctions as I have probably over paid buying on Carmax. We got a super low mileage 14 LC over a year ago.I wish I had held out for a 16 or up because of the damm daytime running lights it makes them look way older.I know it could be an easy fix but the newer dash layout is nicely designed. I like how it’s more flat across speedometer don’t like big circles sticking out on the pre 16’s.Good luck with your search and enjoy the ride!

A '13 BP/tan with 64k miles for $42k popped up now. TX truck, 1 owner trade in, extensive service records at toyota dealerships. Seems like a much better option than the other three. I called a toyota dealership near the dealer that has this 200 and asked about a PPI. He said they'd charge $150. He searched the service records by the VIN number and told me "I'll take your money. But based on these service records I really think you're safe." Yall still think I should get a PPI?
