Ok - time to change the rotors and pads on my 2008 LX. I still debating pads - TRD or Akebono Performance. I have the latter on my GS300 and have been VERY pleased with them - excellent grip and fade resistance; noticeably better than stock. There is no doubt I will continue to use them on my GS300 so they are up for consideration on my LX. Any thoughts / experience on TRD vs Akebnono Performance (not the lowerProACT line)?

Also, I assume that DOT 4 fluid is stock. Should I consider DOT 5.1? Or DOT 4 is fine?

Toyota technically calls for DOT3 in our trucks.. As long as it is bled often enough the boiling point of a high quality fluid won’t be an issue.

I’m very happy with the TRD pads and new OEM rotors all around on my truck, though they do dust more than stock.. which really was barely any dust at all. Akebono ceramics might dust less (almost none on my mercedes).. I haven’t seen many posts about them here.

From my post 19 above:
I upgraded my pads to StopTech Sport (they OEM the TRD pads) and it transformed the vehicle. I also put on new cryo treated stoptech rotors at the same time. I’m very pleased now.

Here are the parts:
Pads: StopTech Street Sport (TRD OEM)
Front 309.13030
Rear 309.13040
Rotors: Centric Cryo Treated
Front: 120.44162CRY
Rear: 120.44157CRY

Really happy with how this turned out.
