2010 Trail schedule draft:

What I have written down so far, nothing written on stone, anything up to change.

January: Schubarth road - 1/23

come have some fun in the snow!

February: China Wall - 2/20

Let's see how deep the snow can get in February.

March: Open for suggestions, maybe decide at February meeting? - 3/13

Rainbow Falls? anyone ever gone in the back way through 347? More challenging that way. Maybe see what's left of China Wall?

April: longwater/hackett - 4/17

Been waiting a long time to see these trails on the trail schedule!

May: Wheeler Lake - 5/15

Great trail with lots of scenery!

June: BBQ - 6/??

Brighten the Sangres - 6/19,20? (campout)

Work day with the Forest Sevice, lots of fun.....with a good cause.

July: Metberry Gulch - 7/3

Fun family day, lots of water to play in.

Buena Vista Weekend!!! - 7/24,25 (campout)

My favorite event last year, don't miss this one if you can help it!

August: Mosquito Pass/Weston Pass - 8/21 Luke

Scenic drive through some classic, beautiful Colorado passes

Rising Sun rally - 8/??

September: Lime creek/Benson Cabin - 9/11 Luke

Bring a lunch, and the family!

Chinaman's Gulch - 9/25

Let's see if Chuck can get through without breaking anything! :-D

October: Reynolds Wrap/Eagle Rock - 10/16

Maybe less snow in October will mean less damage to vehicles.

November: Twin Cone - 11/13 Luke

Red Cone's little brother? Check out Traildamage.com for this interesting looking trail.

December: Christmas tree cutting - 12/4,5 - 12/11,12 David H.

Help the forest service with stuck vehicles on Rampart.

Party time!

I stuck most of the dates in the middle of the month just because they fell before the next meeting.....makes for good conversation, but really is just a generic gesture.

It looks like a very good start Luke. It is always easier to start to negotiate a schedule when their is a framework in place. Thanks for getting this schedule started. Now all we have to do is sit back and make a few mods as the year goes along.

Got them wrote down in pencil, I am gonna try to make all them was looking at the ratings on Traildamage.com I think i gonna have time to get the lockers and maybe sliders on before they get real tuff from what i read (i never been to any of them so) am looking forward to 2010.

Should be a good trail with lots of scenery!

I think snow will be a problem on Wheeler Lake in April.

May: Longwater/Hackett - 5/15 (Campout?)

Been waiting a long time to see these trails on the trail schedule!

Cruiser Moab will be around April 29 to May 2.
I would like to make a trip back to Grand Junction for Memorial weekend.

looks good, Olny a few thoughts..

Wheeler lake 4/17 - Im not sure, but i would guess it will be snowed in like crazy!

Mt. Blanca -- I want to go back, this trail/Camping experience is AMAZING!


And Yes - Cruise Moab! id love to see some more CLCers out there! Moab is very close (6 hours) and has to be the 4 wheeling capital of the world, Go there before the Greenies Shut it down!

Otherwize looks good. It looks like some more Mild runs, Which is a good thing, considering all the new members we have..

we can always do some impromptu additional trips as necessary!

you're both probably right about wheeler lake, suggestions?

I was kind of shooting for some easier, scenic trails for the schedule. I was thinking it might get more people involved and maybe new prospective members.

Hard to convince new prospects to come out wheeling as I hand them a card and explain to them they might bash in a rocker panel on the next run. Plus I like scenic stuff too, Especially when there is old mining stuff/ghost town stuff.

I also figured if the "hard core junkies" (I really don't even consider myself hardcore) wanted to hit the hard trails we could plan that on the fly. see you at the x-mas party!

Yeah, as I found out on Reynolds a stock vehicle won't remain so for long if all it can run are harder trails.
I would really like to go to Moab with a group. Was there last year in my 4Runner but was with a bunch of Uppity Mt. Bike snobs from the Vail valley. Only got to do a night run once cause I had a overheating problem that I didn't figure out till the drive home.

As far as mines and ghost towns Luke, look into the trails in the San Juans around Ouray. It's a bit far from here for a day run but my wife's family always camps at Ridgeway State Park for a week in the summer and spends several days wheeling off of Red Mt. Pass. Most trails rate 2-5 so a good driver in a relatively stock rig can have a lot of fun, as well as tougher trails that rate 6 and up. Amazing scenery and thousands of mines and towns to explore. There are also lots of bike trails, 14er hikes, fishing/swimming, and shopping in Ouray (for the Ladies). I look forward to that trip each summer. I'll bring some photos we took to the Christmas party.

Lol @ Leon. Well, I am still in a full wagon. It's hard to be too hardcore with all that sheet metal. The urge to strip the red rust bucket and build a buggy out of a Samurai still hits me every now and then.........

Need to get this going so It can get changed on the website.

I changed Wheeler lake to May, not sure if the snow will be gone by then. Added Chinaman's gulch in September making two trail rides in that month-- one hard, One family day trip. I think we should leave March open so we can have a club meeting pick at the February meeting.

Chime in about dates and trails so we can get the website updated.

The 2010 trail schedule is now loaded on the www.coloradolandcruisers.org web site. Take a look at it, and see if we can flesh out the trip leaders as well as solidify the meet/leave times. Direct to Luke so he can correlate the data and changes/updates.
