2009 LC- Steering Wheel Whine?

Happened to me this morning in the office parking garage. Took a short video to document.

Is this what you all are hearing?
Mine's a little lower pitch, but yes very similar.

I noticed it starting again last night. I may try to full pull the boot back and grease it, rather than trying to just shoot a bit into the area. I'll take a few photos and let you know how it goes

Ok so this is the boot. You can slide it upwards quite a bit from the bottom but it appears to fit down into the firewall. Rather than grease from the bottom this time I shot a bunch of silicone grease in at the top of the boot. There's a little hole in the plastic panel which makes it fairly easy to spray grease like that if your bottle has a little red wd-40-style tube.

That seemed to quiet things down for now. If it persists I'm going to look for a replacement boot/clamp or something online before I take it apart to stuff it full of grease, since that metal clip looks like something I won't be able to re-secure once I pull it off to get inside

Anyone happen to know the part # for the boot and/or if just swapping that is going to remove the noise? Mine seems to come back every 1000 miles or so. A quick spray of silicone lube shuts it up for a bit and then it returns.

Edit: seems to be this part, which is about $65 - 45025-60190 - Genuine Toyota COVER SUB-ASSY, STEERING COLUMN HOLE.

The FSM makes it sound like removing the steering column is required so I'm guessing this is going to be a labor-intensive fix

Now that the cold months are upon us, my steering wheel is making that same moaning sound upon turning slowly in parking lot.

Did you ever find a long term fix to this? Or is the solution just to spray a copious amount of silicone grease behind the boot every few months?

No I don’t have a long term fix. I just turn up the stereo. Ir annoys me but I’m not over bothered except when I have someone new in the truck and they give me a weird look.
