I have a 2008 with 145k miles. The headlight assemblies are pretty ratty by now. I am contemplating ordering two new assemblies from Toyota. My question - will the new headlights be quite a bit brighter then the cloudy assemblies? Are they relatively easy to replace on the vehicle?

I plan on keeping this for a few more years ( bought in it 2017 with 65k miles on it). It seems like a worthwhile "upgrade".

Swapped out mine a few years back. The color is clearer but depending on how bad they are yes it'll be brighter since there's nothing disrupting the light.

Will require removing the bumper, or at minimum undoing the sides and pulling it off just a bit to get to some of the bolts for the assembly. Still a very easy job though.

I was very happy when I replaced my 2013 headlight buckets with new factory parts, even after they had been polished previously.

Whether you’ll notice more light will depend on how bad your current ones are, but if they are yellowed there will definitely be a difference.. mostly in the headlamp actually being able to put the light where it’s supposed to be on the road.

The new assemblies won’t come with new bulbs.. I’d recommend replacing those at the same time.

Changing the assemblies isn’t super difficult but does require removal of the bumper skin and grille. It helps a lot to have an extra pair of hands for the bumper, especially on reassembly.

What I would do- is buy a new set of later model (2013) HID headlamps and install- there's some wiring changes that would need to be done, but not too hard.

Did you guys put some sort of UV protection or film on the new headlamp assemblies when you installed them?
