Toyota has never changed the suspension from IFS to SA (or from SA to IFS for that matter) during mid-model. It has always been after a major re-design.

I think it's cool, and think of it as another class/manufacture of vehicle...

What do you say when people ask you what you drive?



TYPICAL CONVERSATION:

random person: What do you drive?

Me: A Land Cruiser...

random person: Oh one of them Jeep lookin' thingies???

Me: Nah, mines much cooler than that... ;p VIVE EL PORK!!!

IINM, 85->86 4Runner model went SA->IFS. I don't recall a major body design change, same Generation 4Runner...
