Lexus sells this door panel for well over $1k for a new one... from the research I have done it is not repairable. Has anyone had any luck repairing it?

It drives me nuts and makes my LX feel (cheap) when I look at it. Also happening on the drive side door.

I am in Arizona if anyone close by can do the repair. Thanks

Your best bet would be to find a used one in better condition, try ebay. Cost of door panel and shipping will probably not be cheap, but still more reasonable than new.

The only people that might be able to relayer it is Just Dashes out in California.

Thank you..... might just buy new but my fear is with the Arizona heat it will just happen again. I bought this LX 3 years ago in California. It had started before I had bought it but has gotten worse. I plan on keeping forever so okay with investing in it. 100k miles on her

Maybe I will give it a go and hope it does not do it again (the panel is 20 years old)

It's unusual damage. I would check to see if the plastic liner is in place. There is also a fastener behind that switch panel that may be missing?

It's the heat from Arizona. There is always a trade off. Southern vehicle's suffer from heat damage, faded paint, brittle plastics and rubber..... Northern vehicle's suffer from rust, interiors on the other hand hold up better.

Yeah... I need to figure out a way to climate control for most of the day before spending the money on a new panel

How are the window seals? The ones in the door that act like a wiper? This generally happens from moisture swelling the particle board in the door panel. A VERY common issue. Also check the bottom of the door card to see if there is water damage there. I had this in my lc, but not the lx(which was from the south)

It’s a little hard to tell, but in the top picture on the far left-hand side, is that seal touching the window or is it pulled away from the window?

A regular upholstery shop does not have the equipment to perform this kind of work. It is done with heat and vacuum forming.

My wife's 06 lx470 has this same exact issue on both the DS and PS first row panels. 2nd row is fine. It feels like the vinyl has just delaminated from the backing. It can't be that difficult to remove the door handle and switch panel, then carefully clean out any failed backing material with access from the 2 holes in the panel.

Carefully apply some fabric/upholstery glue and apply pressure to the area while it sets. That's what I'd try in the future but it's way down my priority list.

That's what I thought... took it to 2 different places both said not possible. Something about nothing to grab onto behind it

They just didn’t want to.

Originally yes. A good upholstery shop can fix it, I used to do this type of work.

Thanks for the time fellas... I am going to continue my search on someone in the Phoenix area who can repair it and do it well.

I worked for Unique Upholstery when they were in north Scottsdale ≈15 years ago. I think they’re in Gilbert now? Not saying they will do it or it will be affordable but it’s worth a try.
