Has anyone replaced a Rack sourcing it from a salvage yard? I'm looking to change my Rack and found one from a wrecked 2002 with 150k on it. It's oem. I can get it complete with inner and outer ends.
Just a thought.

Thanks

Why? Trying to save a couple bucks? Too much risk that you spend the money on the used rack, put it in, and then end up replacing it not long thereafter or it's got issues on install. Not worth it.

From experience racks start to slightly leak after 100,000 miles. My LS430 has a minor seepage that has started at 100,000 miles and my LS400 had the rack replaced at 180,000. My LX470 has 189,000 and no rack leaks. The racks on the 100 series might be better, but I wouldn't go through the trouble to install a rack with 150,000 mile and 20+ years old.

once you do the job, you will never want to do it again. replacing the steering rack in a 100 on your back on the garage floor is one of the most difficult jobs you can do on the 100. i can't imagine even thinking of taking the chance on a used rack or even a refurbished one. NEW GENUINE OEM only
unless you are a masochist or something
