It's a shame you weren't looking when I sold my '99/76K or my '00/49K.

Be patient, prices are definitely falling. GXs, LXs, & LCs are already over a thousand dollars cheaper at auction than they were last month. The new NADA book dropped the '04 LC $1000 in value over one month.

You're also looking in a mileage range which is not "front line" merchandise, so you have a lot of bargaining power. Most higher mileage LX/LCs go overseas, but overseas clients are extremely picky about color. Blacks bring a premium, burgundy is undesirable by all overseas markets. I stole my '00 at the auction because it was burgundy.

Yes, $10K plus leaves lots of room to make repairs. I was disappointed with the majority of pricing I saw while looking. However, with patience there are some true values out there. I bought my first LC at a Ford dealer in outstanding condition for an excellent price (much lower than Toyota dealers and even better than private parties). The good values are out there.

Well I bought the 2000 LC with 93K miles. $16,450.
Timing belt my problem. Should also do water pump and rad flush.
Besides that a very clean unit. Almost new tires and brakes that are 50%+ maybe replace shocks at the same time.
Pics when I take delivery this coming week. Now my DD and the 80 is for the boys.

(back in OH....for a week)...

NICE! good buy for that price!

Pics pics pics - looking forward to pics dr.

Well done. Similar car in the UK would have cost you about 50% more - console yourself with that.

Well done in taking the plunge!

Didn't I tell ya burgandy was the secret color! :)

Glad you found one you're happy with. You might want to go ahead and order touch up paint and keep it for when you need it later. When I had that color cruiser IIRC the color was special order and took a week to get.

Great buy. It looks great. It appears that you have a well maintained unit but the previous owner bailed out when the 90K service was due. What is nice is you got a good price break and can then make sure you have all the 90K service done (starter contacts, water pump) and know you have a great ride for another 90K. Congratulations.

I am already talking with CD and putting together a list of parts to order tomorrow.

Thanks for the nice words guys. Onur was getting a woody today when he was looking it over. However I doubt if I do much with mods. Not like the big O.

Looking hard at replacing the shocks, torn between the OE or aftermarket. Remember I do little (very) little off road. But lots of highway and intown travel. My gut says go with Mr. T.

First things to do.
Timing Belt
Thermostat
Water Pump
Rad Flush & fill + Hoses
Serpintine Belt
Slowly convert to M1 Trans Fluid
Diff and transfer to M1
Next Oil Change M1
Fix radio Antenna
New Shocks
Contacts Starter (later fix)
Check Engine Filter
Check Internal Air Filter (if I have one)
Brakes and fluid were done fairly recently should be fine for 20-30K
Install upgraded Stereo with XM (I just hate standard radio) Bring back the College FM Stations of the 70's
Tow Line ( Onur gave me a D Ring)

Then beg the wife to forgive me for blowing the budget. :flipoff2:

I know this is mud and you are an outcast (me) if I do not take it off road.

Maybe the 80.....one day in the future. But first birfields for her. If anyone has a deal for some used or new ones PM me please.

Congrats I did everything on your list to mine plus replacing every hose and belt on the engine, new PS fluid, brake fluid and wheel bearing repack, battery. Also I went with Bilsteins, great ride for my mall cruiser. Also I put on new tires. I did all this at 58K miles on my 99 LC. It was a AZ LC so no rust but the heat is hard on the rubber hoses and belts. Now if I fix the bodyside moldings where I had to touch them up because of the paint chipping and pealing. It would look like new. But I feel like it is new on the inside based on the mileage and the maintance that I did. I just pulled a 6x12 Uhaul from SWUtah to KCMO and it ran like a new vehicle. You will learn to love your 100 series.

Well parts are ordered and should arrive any day. Made a trip to Lexus and purchased the cabin air filters. Yes I have the door behind the glovebox.

Timing belt, water pump and surpintine belt are next to be done.

I was messing around under the truck and found that the parking brake will not engage. My local mechanic states that the assemblies located on the rears usually require they be taken apart lubed etc. Do any of you ever have such a situation?

I replaced the lube in the rear diff this weekend to M1. Tried the transfer but could not remove the fill plug. Yes I used a six point. Front requires that I lift the truck to get access. The company I work for has a lift and I plan to use it one day soon to finish off the fluid exchanges. I really need to get a floor jack and stands. Then my larger than normal belly can clear the running boards.

All the fluids seem to be fine. Onur confirms my observations. However the coolant is green, still in doubt wether I should convert back to red. I did purchase some T green feeling it was better to stay. Air filter looks new.
Lubed (drive shafts) both trucks probably need to replace some zirk fittings. ADD TO LIST>

Purchased the auto antenna and need to tackle the inside fender to get at the pesky motor to take out the old broken feed.

Spark plugs this week. Any suggestions to help me get thru this one?

Oh well another weekend.

Spark plugs are a 120K mile interval replacement.

SWUtah
I agree but until I pull the first plug my thoughts are to replace all.
If anything peace of mind.

You are definately one of us :) I think I replaced everything but the plugs but my 99 only had 58K miles on it when I bought it last year.

I thought I would chime back in and report.

All maintenance has been completed except for the starter contacts. Do you hear that Onur! Shocks I went with oem as with all other components. I did change out the Dunlops to Michelins because of a scary hydroplanning trip from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. See my post Shakes at 65, long story about Bridgestone Alenza's. BTW I did change out the brake pads to Mr. T, the old aftermarkets were cherping on me. Stops much better now.

She is driving great and I average 16 mpg over all conditions. My 80 is also doing well but is in need of rear pads. ONUR we need to get together at your bachlor pad in November....that is if you return from the river city.:flipoff2:
