First off, hello to everyone! I miss my car forums, I feel like FB groups have taken over and they just aren't the same community you get from a forum. That's enough hugs and kisses, you're here to see a build.

This will be an evolving thread, I have videos, photos etc. and need to get them all organized.

Seven years ago I met a gentlemen at work who found out I was a car guy and was curious if I could help him with a project on his truck. Of course I say yes and we head to the parking lot to check her out. It was his baby. His mother bought it new at Sewell in Dallas (it doesn't get anymore soccer more than this, SHE actually bought it) and it was passed along when he turned 16. The truck had never been hit, had every little part, had been maintained meticulously by Lexus and was crazy clean. He also added a Slee front bumper, Slee sliders and I believe an Outdoor Adventure rack. Needless to say, I wanted it. So I tossed it out there "When you are ready to let her go I want dibs" and he agreed.

Almost seven years to the day I get a call from Robert "Hey Kyle... I think it's time, I put her in gear this morning and she started grinding and didn't move". I ask for his number, immediately accept it and proceed to head to the shop. Didn't even hit the Google, just went straight to the shop, sure enough, she won't move in gear and makes the worst grinding. Check codes, nothing, hmmmm. So I do what any car person would do, start hitting buttons. My first thought was the center diff lock was damaged, or stuck, so I cycle and set it to lock.

Put her in gear, no noise. Release the brakes and off she goes. The shop owner was looking at me like I was car Jesus and I just asked "Does he owe you anything?", nope? Ok lets see if I can get this home (still haven't researched anything yet) so I had no idea what I was getting into. Truck makes it home, I Uber back and pick up the GX and head home. Drive the truck some more and she is fine. Test the center diff lock and confirm that is fine, but causing something to go wrong when open.

You know where this is going... I Google "LX470 makes grinding noise in gear and won't move" and the first thread I see mentions stripped hub splines in the front. Proceed to pull the dust cover, grab some channel locks ANNNNNNND turn the axle in the hub.

Canceled the M3 order and told the wife I'm building my dream 100 series, phew.

Pics to come, I just finished the first stage and actually need to go final torque the front end and adjust toe and center the steering. She has been in hover mode for a month.

Can't have a post without a pic so, here is a progress pic from last week.

Holy mole , what great luck...

Sometimes I think...well my truck doesn't have that much rust.....then I see a picture like this and get sad. I can only keep these rigs alive for so long until the rust just kills everything.

If the frame's rust free, the AHC lines likely serviceble and probably new globes and springs would have improved ride quality. It's a pity that got deleted.

Otherwise nice frame and welcome to the 10MPG club!

Fully rust free and the AHC was fully functioning without leaks. Keeping AHC just was not part of the project plan. Let me get the post put together, but this was a pretty extensive project, these shocks are just here until my KING adjustable resi shocks arrive. Complete drivetrain rebuild including new hubs, steering knuckles, rack, diff rebuilds, all axles, OEM rear locker, front elocker, no non OEM switches, even light. If it was an upgrade it was OEM.

I have a 3rd Gen 4Runner fully locked running 11 PSI on 35s and a wide body big turbo E90 BMW, I left the land of reason long ago, lol.

Fellow ATX hella-over-built LX owner here. Been there and down most of all that over the last three years. Good times! Let me know if you need anything.
