In evaluating which lift to choose for a 200, I think on-road ride quality is worth considering since so few of our rigs are dedicated off-road only. I know I'll drive 90+ percent of the time on road, so ride quality is a prime consideration.

Those of you with aftermarket suspensions, what insight can you give us as to comfort before/after your lift compared to the stock ride comfort? I'm especially interested to hear from those who may have started with one of the lower-cost kit (such as the basic OME) and moved up to coilovers.

Thanks for your input!

I can only speak for Ironman Foam Cell Pros. I love them. Very comfortable. Who you really need to talk to is @arich . Hopefully he can give you a few tips.

I think the stock cruiser rides more like a car than a truck around town. Modify it, and that changes quickly: we all love AT tires, but they definitely aren't as smooth over pot holes and uneven roads.

All the reviews I read on OME nitrocharger versus stock was that OME was firmer.

I have BP-51s and it really is a great ride at speed over nasty roads, but pretty firm around town. I had Bilsteins prior, and they were firmer, too.

Maybe you just want spacers?

I ride King Adjustable 2" lift suspension. In love with it. First out of few that I tried where softer-stiffer valve really work. Also love "riflescope" quality clicks on adjustment valve.

Definitely bp-51. Rides nicer than stock. I was worried about losing the comfort when I got the lift so slee had the settings very soft. Drove like a Lexus and was too soft. Just a quick turn of dials to a firmer ride and I love them.

I can only speak for the Ironman foam cell pro as well. I have them on my 2013 and am very satisfied. A little firmer than stock but not in a bad way. The truck handles very well in all road conditions. I've done some minor off road driving with the new suspension and all is good there as well.

You all feel free to keep this conversation alive......... expound and stuff. What do you have? What would you change? I you didn't want a lift or only a very mild lift, what type shocks would you install?

My E rated tires have me wanting for a suspension upgrade and I too, like Al Grain, want a supple ride combined with improved handling.

Preesh.

Supple like a DW link and a fox float?

Pretty close...... but rather more like Dave's DELTA design, less the brake jack of a single pivot design.

Like my EVIL.

Insert EVIL laugh here........

Oh pardon me - lol

Preesh.

The tread design, as well as the PSI you set will have a major effect on the ride quality. I run the Michelin Defender LTX which is an E rated tire, and it rides very well. It will not match the KO2s in mud but capable enough for most conditions.

Those of you with ironman FCP, looking on the Aussie site, there looks to be a comfort and firm valving. But looking at various websites I can't find which is for sale. Anyone know which one they have in their 200?

I've decided on a set up (BP-51 I'm 80% sure) and am taking quotes. Seems the hard part is finding someone I'm comfortable with for the install. For a town my size, I'm surprised I haven't found a shop yet to make my decision easy. I'm concerned the installing shop will be baffled over the KDSS system and screw things up.

The three nearby ARB dealers so far have not given me a lot of confidence over the phone. I'm having them quote as I'd prefer buying the set up from the installer so they have some skin in the game.

My mechanic hadn't worked on any 200's and had no knowledge of the KDSS. He and I read up on it when we did the rear helper airbags and so long as you don't open the KDSS valves too far (which would require refilling and repressurizing the system) it's really simple and I wouldn't be too concerned. Just don't open the screws more than 2.5-3 turns and make sure they get closed back up when complete ;-)

more importantly make sure whomever does do your install understands to NOT over tighten the KDSS hex's when wrapping up the job (7lbs torque). Any more and you could stand a good chance of stripping the heads next time you need to open the valves to let the beast level out.
I echo what @linuxgod said above - its not to be feared and very simple to navigate / use.
