Whether the trailer has good or great suspension, just like a car, airing down is the best thing to do IMO for offroad trailering. It absorbs irregularities at the tire before transferring anything especially in washboards. Minimizes hopping and rebound kicks. Helps the trailer float on top of sand. Too much suspension travel can be a liability for more lean in off-camber situations.

If the trailer has a tendency to sway, try reducing load/weight aft of the trailer axle.

I appreciate the flexibility but I think my main complaint with pop tops is that in certain areas with grizzly activity you can’t pop them up. Some of the campgrounds around Yellowstone are a good example where any sort of hybrid canvas is not allowed period.

I have found that an interesting rule given some years here in Alaska I spend months in a canvas tent. But it is definitely designed for the lowest denominator tourist who doesn’t understand food management in bear country.
