Just remember to buy your sleeping bag for the temperature you plan to be sleeping in. A -20 degree bag for 20-30 degree weather will leave you more than uncomfortably hot, and likewise, a 20 degree rated bag for -20 conditions will leave you cold. A -20 degree bag will not keep you warmer than a 20 degree bag in 20 degree weather - you will only be hotter and have to unzip the bag to keep moisture (sweat) from building up.

thanks for the info General..
I have had my share of winter exposures...
I bought the bag for winter car camping so I can leave the expensive 0°F bag for climbing trips only....

got the bags yesterday... they fit the bill they are looong..n fluffy... n heavy..
can't go wrong at $55 for a mummy bag....
I doubt the rating is what they claim it to be...

Contrary to what some may think, most companies rate their bags on the basis of "you will survive the night @ x degrees." Most do not rate their bags as "you will be comfortable @ x degrees." There are exceptions to this but they are just that, the exceptions.

The reason they do this is for competition in the area of weight. A true 20 degree bag is much heavier than a you will survive @ 20 degree bag.

Good buy at $55! While we are familiar with The North Face, Marmot, Sierra Designs, etc., we were really impressed by a company called Wiggys Wiggys | Manufacturer of the finest outdoor gear in the world | Sleeping bags | Extreme Cold Weather Gear | Fire Retardant Underwear. They don't attend OR (Outdoor Retailer) and try to market through REI, Cabelas, BassPro, etc. 'Tried their 20-degree Hunter Ultralight and really like it. We bought two and zipped them together for "couples" camping. It's great to see folks buy gear that works for their situation.

bag ratings are based on a few things....mainly, that you are properly dressed inside...

long underwear tops and bottoms
stocking cap
wool socks
bag liner
ground pad

I've got a Mountain Hardware Switch +5 that is amazing...and I've done single digits...with the above gear :)

but I like sleeping nude...

I sleep nude to lightly dressed in long under wear depending on temperature. If I am in the buff my long underwear is either under my head or at the foot of the bag to keep it warm. That gives me just enough warmth to get to my outerwear.
