Hello! First time poster, here!

My 1983 4x4 is experiencing two issues. First of all, the engine (and truck only have 114k miles). My spark plugs, wires, distributor, fuel pump, fuel filter, and rebuilt (original) carb all have less than 8k miles on them.

Symptoms:
1. My (warm) engine occasionally stalls when I put it in neutral. This doesn't happen all the time, only sometimes. It's not a slow stall. It just dies, fast, the second I push in the clutch coming up to a stop sign.
2. My (warm) engine occasionally surges/hesitates when I'm driving in 3rd gear, though it sometimes hesitates/stutters in other gears, too.

Should I start with vacuum lines? EGR system? I'm very hesitant to enter into the carb world, but I will if I need to.

First of all... SHOW PICS! I wana see this low miles 3rd gen pickup. So it doesn't have any of the issues when the engines cold? Does it idle just fine other than the stop sign scenario? Could do the ol brakeclean trick to check for vacuum leaks. spray it around your vacuum lines, intake manifold, and the base of the carburetor. If any of those areas are leaking by the engine will idle up as it burns the brakeclean. Could also be a carb adjustment like the idle mix screws. Is it a manual or auto choke? if the choke isn't opening all the way when the engine is warm it'll cause the engine to run rich. I'm no expert by any means but that's where I'd start.
