So I have been reading that some places Won't align your truck if you have ball joint spacers anyone ever had any issues with this?

Well I'm gonna do it gonna start the buying of the parts for a ball joint spacer lift!just looking around for where I can get it from.

But when I do the spacer do I need to replace the shocks?

Do I need a net torsion bar?

And do I match the same lift with the springs or get blocks for the stock ones?

I've been reading but this new addition to the tygart family is crazy haha

You should stop spending money on the ifs now, especially if you plan on 33's or bigger. Ball joint spacers will just put your axles at risk as it will take them beyond their working limit. Save for the SAS kit now. When it's all said and done you will easily spend the same amount on the ifs. The newer Tacoma ifs is pretty good but the old torsion bar setup like yours leaves a lot to be desired. Your truck is the perfect candidate for SAS as it has the right steering box for crossover steering, the larger front calipers, and the bigger rear axle us 85 owners have to upgrade to. That ifs works best in it's stock form. Trust me you will end up wanting the solid axle as I can tell from your comments on tire size.

my 85 on 33's

Nice. What lift do you have? Looks like you put high steer on it too. Mine was tricky to do high steer with only 2.5" of lift. I have OME lift. Thinking about going with something else up front to get 3" of lift.

Thanks, and yeah your right I would like to do a SAS but I have a 40 for that haha, no I'm just going with the ifs because I've never done anything with it at all and we'll I figure it deserves a shot to see how it goes I've always wanted to feel the difference off road to see what I like more. But maybe later on ill do a SAS but for now I'm just taking my time learning about what I got while I have it and seeing what I can do with it I'm not expecting to do any crazy trails right now. Love your truck though looks great and awesome view out there.

oh you"ve got a 40 too. i'm just sayin don't go too extreme on the ifs. i don"t believe in ball joint spacers. definately smooth and nice to have both trucks for both kinds of fun. that pic is on the jon bull trail in big bear

racehoss, i have all pro 4"( i think it's been a while maybe 3") springs up front with stock shackles and tacoma 3" leafs in the back with custom hanger locations and yes marlin high steer.tires are 33x10.5x15

Yeah I don't wanna get my hopes up but I'm working on trying to get a 4" pro comp lift but its in the air, yeah I miss playing around big bear haha never been on that trail though not that I remember

BJ Spacers are a controversial topic. I have thought about a set myself for my 88 until I can go all out on a coilover SAS. They are cheap and do the job and you can relax the T-bars for a better ride. New shocks would be a good idea, New T-bars would not be necessary to use them.

I would equate them to using a puc spacer on a later model rig with struts up front. They are cheap and get the job done.

Looks like we got it! Worked a deal and got a 4" pro comp suspension lift so looks like ill be going with that over the BJS and when I get new tires throw on some 33s there, just replaced the speakers in it and cleaned up the interior so now just the lift is next!

You didn't get rid of that pimping JVC head unit did you. That thing was state of the art......in the 90's!

No way that is staying in there! Just replaced the front speakers didn't make much of a difference without the ones in the rear.

Got the chance to get a bikini top on the truck just as the A/C went out not a good time in texas. But with alittle creativity I managed to make my FJ40 bikini top into a runner top!
