1st Gen 4Runner Tailgate on 2nd Gen Mini?

Is this a plug-and-play, less the window and guts? Or does it take some fabrication/modification of the hinges and/or latching mechanism to make it work? Mini truck is a 1986 short bed 4x4.

I don't think it will work without a lot of fab work. The 4 runner tail gate is bigger.
Can I ask why you're wanting to do this?

Very very different. Hinges aren't even remotely the same. I'm not even sure it's the same shape. It will also hit the roll pan under the back of the bed, 4Runners don't have this and the tailgate drops down and tucks under when open.

10-4...I saw an 89ish mini with the "mod"...never seen it before but looked pretty good. I've always liked the rear of the 4Runner over the truck and I have a beater 86.

I remember seeing a build with the reverse...mini truck tailgate on 4 Runner.

I figured the Runner tailgate is easy to source and cheap but, if not fairly simple, obviously not worth it.
