Debating on selling this gem. I picked it up about a month ago with the intentions of selling my '91 and building this one. Unfortunately, life has gotten somewhat in the way and I'm thinking of selling. The truck was bought new in Covington, TN and lived its entire life in the Memphis Metro area. I purchased it from the original owners, 77 year old brother. I still have original bill of sale (10/97) and window sticker with this unit. Here's what I know about this truck after driving it 100 miles (round trip) to work for a month.
I'm not 100% of what's been done to this unit except what I have done myself (listed below). The original owner was a surgeons wife and I was told that all service, as outlined by the owners manual, was preformed at suggested intervals.
1997 Collectors Edition 3x's locked all stock. >280K miles (goes up daily).
Good:
Just installed new brakes
New valve cover gasket
New windshield
Radio/antenna/sunroof all work
Factory Tint
All lights function properly
Cold AC/Hot heat
All lockers function correctly
1FZ Engine
Zero Rust on frame/exterior
Paint is VERY nice (Garage kept)
Sunroof doesn't leak
Leather/Power Seats
All stock platform never offroad
Has used ZERO oil over the last 2,500 mi
Bad:
Seat bottoms are rough...the cushion is in tact but the leather will need replaced (armrest same)
Dist O-ring leaky
Passenger Rear window inoperable
Power seats need gears/plugs replaced
DS seat button (controls the seat back) broken off *I have built a replacement aluminum stem already*
CEL on thowing EGR insufficient flow code
Front bumper is slightly tweaked where PO hit a flower pot in his back yard.
If I were to keep this unit I would do a complete knuckle service in the near future as I'm unsure of the last service (if ever) as well as put a new output shaft seal in the Tcase (looks wet around it...not enough to drip but like WD40).
