Can you provide us with a list of maintenance records or repairs?
changed the oil many times, diff fluid a couple times, transmission flush, cooling system flush, transfer case a couple times, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Valve cover gasket, PHH, windshield washer diverter valve replaced, 3 or 4 new batteries, cleaned a/c evaporator , heavy duty drag link, brake pads are now 100 series on front. They are supposed to last longer. New steering box, drag link ends. Birf job and axle service. To name a few things. intake hose, new engine hoses
In all the years the only time it didn't work was dead batteries and the PHH popped on a short trip to the store. I still made it back home. There was one other time at SMORR on .v notch that the drag link bent. That one was my fault because I bumped a stump in the weeds at the farm the week before

and it bent it a little. V notch reared her ugly head and bent it more. I could have drove it home from there but the drag link end popped off the knuckle, it went back on but I didn't want to drive at interstate speeds with that type of potential steering issue
