On the pump settings, white smoke can also indicate lean condition, black is a rich condition. Back it down until you see SMALL amounts of black smoke. Black smoke under heavy load is OK, but your mileage will drop off comparatively. Better to run a diesel rich (black) than lean (white). Running lean will create hot spots in the cylinder and score a sleeve in the block.
Apologies if I sound like a know-it all d@#*head but that advice is incorrect for a diesel. Unlike petrol engines where a lean condition leads to hot combustion, (higher Exhaust Gas Temperatures, numerically higher Air-fuel ratios) in a diesel, running rich leads to hot combustion (higher exhaust gas temperatures, numerically lower air-fuel ratios) which can lead to melted pistons and the likes. A diesel runs cooler when run lean. In a petrol engine, typical Air-fuel ratios would be in the 11:1 area with EGTs (in an aircraft engine - my only real experience in petrol engines about 815 degrees Celsius (1500 degrees Fahrenheit) whereas in a diesel (where I spend most of my time) ideal air-fuel ratios would be around the 18-22:1 mark and safe EGTs of 650 degrees celsius (1200 farenheit) which is why worked turbo-diesels like what @gbentink does (such as 1HD-Ts) run boost in the 30-40 psi area with AFRs around the 20:1 mark. This is further reenforced by the fact that most diesel engines do not have a throttle body - the airflow entering is pretty much unrestricted and the engine speed is regulated by fuel alone, whereas in a petrol, the airflow is regulated by a throttle body or carby and the fuel charge is supplied based on air entering because a lower AFR in a petrol (to a practical limit) = cool, whereas in a diesel a lower AFR (ie, rich condition) = hot which can be catastrophic.
I hope this is understandable and somewhat relevant, and once again, not wishing to be a smartarse, just wanting to help the O.P. with the right advice.

Edit: Note, all EGT values given are in the exhaust manifold, not after the turbo if applicable)

Definitely have to agree with Aussie here.
When you run a diesel lean, the only negative effect is lack of power. Rich on the other hand creates a lot of extra heat which can cause internal damage.
Black smoke is rich usually due to overfueling.
White is raw unburnt fuel which comes from incomplete combustion usually due to incorrect injector pump timing.
This assumes a healthy engine with adequate compression and no coolant system leaks.

Hi there everyone

Been really busy...new born baby girl (we named her Niima which means blessing), Dad had heart valve replacement, Mum fell broke one arm and dislocated other shoulder....all are well now thank God, just waiting for parent's return from Cairo.
Havent really done much on the cruiser....but will do so in the come weeks.

Thank you so much @math for asking. Will be back posting soon hopefully.

another issue delaying my posts is that i am now using an iphone...which i have NO idea about....even how to open my image gallery , let alone transfer images to PC....anyways.....will figure it out and do my best to 'reveal' the updates.

Thanks guys for the support @AussieHJCruza and @Locked79 . I did manage to play around the pump a bit.....initially i increased the pressure pump and then would drive a day at that setting....then decrease a quarter turn each time i had a chance (WHEN i remember before the engine is already hot)....then played with the idle settings.....im pretty happy with how it is now....no noticeable smoke when idle....short blast of black when high throttle and disappears..white when cold start, but disappears after a few seconds...so...so far so good for what i currently have as a setup.

thanks again

Good to finally see some posts from you, thought maybe something had happened. Welcome back Moe
nope...didnt join ISIS, ISIL or any other fanatics....just been busy with life, as well do once we reach a certain age and responsibility......not saying that im THAT responsible :D

a few updates: pics will follow once i get to learn how to download them from my iphone to windows
1- Re-did the wiring, this time taking into consideration the original (or as close as possible) wire colours. Also had to lengthen some and shorten others so they sat snug and comfortable.
2- Finished my door panels. and in the process learned how to use a sewing machine. added door courtesy lights to door panels. Couldnt do the roof liner, sewing machine was just for home use, the stitches were too small and the liner test i did tore apart once i started stretching it.
3- Re-installed the AC cables ( mine is manual not electric) for the vents etc. ANd installed a filter to the blower
4- Installed new belts, oil change , filters.
5- Had to relocate the stereo to original location. The center thing was just not comfortable or easy to use. Left the window controls in Center.
6- Had to install yet another water pump. Guess i had painfully stretch the belt to the alternator to hard.
7- waiting for a bit of cash to get new suspensions and undercarriage bushings. Springs seem fine (but have no idea how to test them here).

currently working on getting my rear e-lockers working.....doing the tear down to get it cleaned and greased, but will need an alternative way to wire it. couldnt find ANY one here who has the e-locker actuator relay thing. Will a two relay (5 pin types) setup work?

will this work?

hi everyone....again..been soooooooo long since i had a chance to come online....schools, operations, home maintenance, baby girl....everyday adult stuff... now back to the fun :)

Updates:
1- Did the vinyl for the interior roof.... learnt how to sew, cut, patch...etc
2- cracked one of the magnets in the rear diff lock while trying to clean it up....anyone know if its the same size as wiper motor etc.....no one here has any idea about elec rear diff lock to even find a spare
3- fixed my wiper issue...used to stop at uprght posiion....easy fix, unscrew the wiper motor and let it stop then screw the mechanisim back in.
4- FINALLY working on my center console: 4 cup holders, large center compartment, secret compartment, rear seating charging outlet (DC for now, will install AC once i get my hands on a decent invertor)and some fancy LED
5- learning to fibreglass stuff.... plenty of screw ups in the moulding process...no gelcoat or release wax available that i know off here, used oil, paint, vaseline....maybe i should try baby lotion or something :)

again, using iphone without original cable....so images to come soon.

also forget to mention
1- new brake pads
2- new rear right brake piston
3- new toyota shocks
4- Land cruiser racing game based on our eastern highway....check it out please

trying to get it rolling as a means of income.

Okay, the racing game is actually pretty cool! So is the truck, but great job on that game! What's the first pic for the center console? The second one is an organizer, right?

(Edit: Still the coolest topic on Mud)

Nice racing Mo!

hi there @math .....
thank for the compliments on the game....stopped working on it for now so as to continue on my rig, as i have been broke for a while. but will carry on to make an android and iOS versions. currently only one stage, but already have competition, mods etc coded and ready for launch.

Back to the rig
the images are both of the center console , which i trashed btw to build a better looking one. FOund the first trial looked more like granny furniture.... new one is much better. currently working on the molds for the cup holders, instead of the cut and rounded wood frames i had in the first one. will upload images tomorrow. waiting for the cup holders to dry so they dont warp, and then everything will come together.

@hamishpotter ...congrats on becoming a silver star bro..... been a while since i was online.
great to see u guys again.
well, thanks for liking the game...working on a very slow PC now, but was seriously thinking of adding US trails etc... soon hopefully.
