1993 4-runner with lopey idle

My Dads 4-runner has a lopey idle(revs up and down when stopped).

Dunno much about these vehicles as I'm more of a 60's guy.

Any ideas?

Timing.

Vacuum leak.

Cracked intake tube.

TPS out of adjustment.

a stuck throttle cable did that for me on my 22re 4runner. it was hanging up just before fully closed and the ecu was confused

mine had a vacuum leak at the brake booster that caused that to happen. i new it had something to do with the brakes because when i let go of the pedal it went away. x2 on everything KLF mentioned.

Thanks...will report back as to what it is. It's raining here in CA and of course, mother nature HAD to wait until the weekend to rain.

yep. i'm in so cal also. i just got new shocks for the 100 series and have to wait because of the rain. not that i'm complaining. i like it when it rains at night on weekdays.
