CHARGING ISSUES WITH BATTERY LIGHT N BRAKE LIGHT ON AS ONE! My 1990 toyota pickup i just purchased supposedly needed an alternator... so my 1991 had a 4 year old alternator i was using til the head gasket blew, so i used that knowing it worked before during fall. after installing it in new truck, "1990" the battery and brake light come on at same time with the bumps... yet i dont think its charging n then not. Its charging but i think minimally. you can remove battery terminal n it wont stall, but drawing to much juice at once really makes it spit n buck...i.e. heater on high n high beams...wtf? cant believe its the alternator.it worked fine in other truck. sometimes runs bad until you hit approximately3500 to 4000 rpm...then it takes off like nothing is wrong? anybody got a clue?

Check all ur grounds. If its got the 22re check the ground from the back of the motor to the fire wall. Make sure they are all tight and touching bare metal. Also check to make sure ur belt is tight.

figured it out! the wiring harness from alternator that goes under air box was melted from the ground getting to hot. i cut it where the fender ground attaches and where it disappears in the fender cause it was good after that point. cut it out of my other truck,1991, and wire nutted it all together to find the problem cured. it was missing a ground that connects to the engine block under distributor. problem cured...thanks everybody for the help, i hope someone finds this info helpful
