1989 AC compressor mystery

can anyone shed light on the mystery of the 1989 4runner ac compressor? I have ordered 2. one had the wrong pulley. the other did not line up. I believe I have found the right part but it is the one from 85-88.

I have an 89 runner with ac, I'll try to find a part number on it. What month/yr was yours manufactured, mine is a 12/88.

I have an 89 and 9 times out of 10 you're better off asking for parts for an 88. This tends to be the case with most of the advanced, discount, napa type places. Only time I ask for parts for an 89 is when dealing with a specialty type dealer like Marlin or Trail Gear.

^ This is true. An '89 4Runner is the red-headed step-child to Toyota. My son had one and it was a weird cross-over of parts. Some from the old generation, some from the new.
