HI all. I do believe I am going to be putting my 1988 FJ62 Land Cruiser up for sale. I’m not really sold on doing this as I am just getting it to where I want it, but I think the wife and I have a better plan for our family, so there we are. If I don't get what I need out of it, I'm going to keep it, though, for sure :)

Please let me know ASAP if you have any interest as I will probably try to move it pretty quickly and move on to the national classifieds here on IH8MUD and then on to Ebay.

It is an all around great truck. I will be listing all the details about it out here in the coming days w/ pictures, but I can tell you it is near perfect, but for a few issues - needs front knuckles/bearings redone (going to do ASAP). It also needs the rear bumper finished so it can hold the spare tire.

It isn't 100% original – but close - - it has 4Runner front seats, a Scion xB stereo, EGR system removed (but still have it), 2.5 OME heavy back / medium front, 2010 FJ Cruiser Wheels + spacers and newer tires, different bumpers and I removed and re-caulked the gutters. We also recently installed a T-100 master cylinder and a FJ60 brake booster and bypassed the LSPV. Also the air-conditioning was converted to the new type.

That said, almost every other detail of the vehicle, down to the original sticker, is complete and in great condition - as "new" as you will find and also as original as most only in wonderful condition.

In addition, in the last three years I know it has had the following done: New radiator, new starter, new battery, stainless steel battery trays, tune up with new plugs/wires, valves adjusted and a new alternator.

I will be providing more detail and pictures in the coming days, but wanted to throw this out there now, to give the local club a chance to review.

I will be asking close to $12K for it, but would go lower with club members.

Well - I may have a trade in place:

Trading my FJ62 for this: 2002 4Runner SR5

I would also get the difference in asking prices back to me in cash.

Any thoughts/concerns?

My only concern is that the wife has already shown interest in the tradee 4Runner so, I maybe looking to exchange a Scion xB for something . . . :)

I think she is scared I'm going to try to farkle the 4Runner up for off-road, which is the plan (don't tell her! hehe).

Shoulda, woulda, coulda...

Jamie,

Should have bought mine last July...Turnkey. If you need someone to go with you to look at this, let me know...

Regards,

BWJ

BWJ - Yea - hindsight 20/20, I should have gave you any $$ you wanted to keep that from the dealer :) I wonder were that rig is now.

Any movement on the 4runner? Does it come with a Locker?

Regards,

BWJ

We are all but done with the deal now. Inspections for my vehicle came out great with almost no issues. May have to replace the transmission pan gasket, but its not leaking or broken or anything, so hate to mess with all those bolts!

The factory elocker on the 3rd gen went away in 2001 :( I think it was standard several of the years in the Limited package, but optional in the SR5 for 2-3 years. For better or worse, the vehicle also got stability control standard in 2001 and the multimatic transmission was added too. So maybe crappy for wheeling, but great for the wife for around town! :)

The plan may change to be the wife drives this if she likes it, and I trade/sell the 2006 Scion xB for a older, better built 3rd Gen.
