1987 FJ60 - Rust Free From New Mexico - SOLD

*** SOLD - MONEY IN THE BANK TODAY*****

I want to buy an 80 so I need to sell my 60.

*** New lower price -- $4,000 ****

Here's a list of a few basic details:

* Runs very well
* I've gotten multiple compliments from people that say the truck looks almost new and they cannot believe it is 20 years old.
*266,590 Miles
*Repainted in late 2003 with Toyota 4M9 Cashmere Beige Metallic
*I ran a VIN check and it showed that it has been in Albuquerque since it was brand new (except it lived in Farmington for a couple months)
*The dashboard is 99.9% perfect with one small crack in the speaker grille
*It passed the Bernalillo County emissions test in March 2007. I don't have any reason to think that it wouldn't pass if tested today.

Relatively new parts:
31" X 10.5 BFG A/T - about 4 years old with 20K miles on them
A/C system converted to R134a and it blows COLD.
OEM Reman Starter about a year ago
New motor and transmission mounts in 2003
OEM Cat-back Exhaust
New OEM Distributor Cap, Rotor and Plugs at 242K miles
K&N Air filter at 242K miles
Rebuilt/reseal Driver steering knuckle, axle seal, trunnion bearings
Replaced Driver Side rear axle seal.
New aftermarket radiator in 2003
Carburetor overhaul in 2003
Replaced intake/exhaust manifold and under-carb gaskets in 2005
New OEM Distributor Vacuum Advance
Installed Reman PS Pump and Air Pump in 2006
New Belts in 2006
New windshield and OEM gasket 2 weeks ago

**UPDATE** I got these installed ***I have the parts for the 3-point rear seatbelt retrofit but have only installed
the lap retractors because there aren't any nuts welded into the C-pillars***
I also have extra seatbelt parts, FJ62 mirrors I haven't installed, a non-bent globebox door, and several other spare parts
I installed a couple of cargo tiedown straps in the crevice between the floor and rear seatback.

I have a bunch more pictures. Send me a PM and any picture requests you might have and I'll email them to you.

Here are some pictures.

For those wondering, the lil black things in the cargo area floor in post #10 are tie-down points that Marc made to secure cargo. Neat idea.

Another bump 4 ya...

Thanks a bunch.

Reduced Price

I offered this to someone for $4,500 but haven't gotten a reply yet. I figured I should let others have the opportunity to get it for the lower price.

That's understandable. I'd probably be the same way if I was in your shoes. I will try to find some time in the near future to do a compression test and will post those numbers up when I do.

No time for a compression test yet. Just giving it a bump.

Compression Test

I got some time today to do a compression test. I drove the Cruiser to Home depot to pick up some lumber and get the engine warmed up. She's still running silky smooth. When I got home, I took all the plugs out and hooked up the compression tester. The numbers I got (in psi)are as follows:

1 - 145
2 - 140
3 - 137
4 - 136
5 - 139
6 - 143

Here are the photos of the first three:

Any other questions? I really would like to sell this. I keep seeing a lot of great deals for 80s and have to pass them up. There was a '97 with 135K miles and lockers at a car lot in town for $6K. It killed me to have to pass it up.

Thanks for the bump.

My truck still doesn't have any rust. The frame still doesn't have any rust and for the most part still has most of its original black paint. The interior carpet is in fantastic shape. The seats are in pretty good shape. The headliner (velour, not vinyl) doesn't have any tears. The engine runs very smoothly and starts right up. The truck doesn't even have any rattles. Everything works on it. It drives straight down the road. For those of you looking for a 60 in fantastic condition, you need to try to get past the high miles to see that this is a great truck.

Auto Trader

Put an ad in the AutoTrader. We'll see how that goes.

I have seen this Cruiser in the flesh and its in great shape. Starts right up, runs smooth and looks great. It is a awesome truck and will make someone really happy!
Not to mention, Marc is a stand-up guy!

Weekly bump.

Keep the Faith. My 83' sold for $6,700 two weeks ago. Given, it didnt have a salvage title and only had 134K miles... It will sell, Just hope and pray you get it sold before Obama takes office in Jan. If you think you saw high gas prices last summer, just wait. Once Obama re-distributes the wealth from oil and gas companies to lazy people who wont get a job, gasoline will cost 6-7 a gallon.

I'll try not to get used to the $2.34/gallon I paid yesterday. At least I get 30 mpg in my '89 Camry. If gas hits $7/gallon next year I might as well just give up on Cruising completely. I won't be able to afford to drive it anywhere.

Do you have it on all the local CraigsLists? Thats where I have had ALL my luck the last three vehicles I have sold. I paid 79 bucks for the add (Autotrader) on my fiance's Integra and didn't get a SINGLE call on it. On the flip-side, I got 15-20 calls from the CL add. People are convinced there are only "stellar" deals on CL and watch it more frequently. Its a good experiment in how dumb people are.

Either way, make sure you have it advertised everywhere you can.

x2 on CL Marc, and winter's coming, so don't give up. First major snow in the canyon & somebody will decide they need a 4wd. :steer:

Sending ya cruiserma that some silly outta stater in SF or Taos will see your ad & buy it so you can get an 80. :fingers crossed:

I've had 2 people contact me through the CL add. One guy was from Wisconsin and one was local but neither of them were serious about it. Maybe I'll repost in the Farmington, Santa Fe and Roswell CL's. I've gotten nothing out of my $45 Auto Trader ad.

Thanks for the Cruiserma C. My father is still in posession of my MIG if you're looking to get that door repaired.
