Whats it cost to ship one in from down under??? Guess you could ship it now and would not reach customs till 2009....

It depends on the port of entry. From Brisbane to Baltimore cost me $2500 for a Troopy. Shipping to Los Angeles would most likely be significantly cheaper.

I think the 25 year rule is based on the date of manufacture not the model year. It's likely that a model year 1984 vehicle was manufactured in 1983.

The add says it was made in Feb 84, so it would be able to be imported after Feb 09 I think. I don't think there would be any difference in shipping roro between a 40 and a 47, as the dimensions they give are a maximum size. I've only shipped troopies, but the last one I shipped was $2600 Roro from Melbourne to LA.

This one looks pretty rusty, though. I have seen much nicer ones out there.

I missed that part about Feb 1984. Bummer. I was thinking about trying to talk the wife into another 42. I requested more photos from the seller and he's shown the worst of the rust in the auction photos.

Ive been looking into import rules for these later model cruisers recently. Im pretty sure the rule is to the year - not the year and month. If so its good to go in Jan.
