I just picked up my 5th pickup in 15 years so I have had it for about 8 days now. I do not know the previous space engineers that worked on it...wish'n I did.

I just got finished pulling a rats nest of aftermarket and push-button ignition garbage out of my truck. Not sure why previous owners went with push button starter control instead of fixing the ignition. I have the fix mostly under control but have a question related to the handful of ignition switches that are available.

I do have tilt wheel and a locking column. The tip that fits down into the ignition switch for turning it is tweaked...would love to show a picture...almost looks like someone built the male portion and jb welded it on. Basically will not turn far enough to engage starter. There are several splices made into the harness for the old push-button so I plan on replacing that completely instead of having that mess.

Question 1 - about the "intermotor" switch\tail that is on the switch harness. What exactly is that supposed to control? I cannot find a direct match on the wiring diagram...also the switch I have in hand appears to be disabled or fixed into a single position with glue or something. This thing mounts up behind the key cylinder.

Question 2 - anyone have tips on getting correct\matching switch and cylinder combos? I would prefer new since there is an underlying electrical mystery that I need to weed out.

Thanks for the welcome and response to the intermotor switch question.

I snagged some images of the doomathicky that sits between the ignition cylinder and the ignition switch. Hopefully you can see the craftsmanship.

This part apparently does not come with a new ignition\key cylinder and I think it does not come with a new ignition switch. At this time this is the part that appears to be the issue. I missed my chance to hit the junk yard this weekend so I may be up a creek for a while.

I may have time to hit the dealership tomorrow and see if they can 'splode view me one and magic it to Austin.

The doomathicky shown in last posted image does not show up on dealer exploded view of ignition components on the column. This included switch, lock cylinder, and the housing that mounts to the column.

I guess it is off to the junkyard.
