Thanks snow pack I will test the torque on my head bolts to see where they are at before I put an order in for a HG.
What head gasket did you use I have read mixed results on different brands don't want to risk a below parr HG if needed.

That sounds like a good idea. Be sure to keep me updated; curious to know if a re-torque would help. If I knew that checking the torque on the head bolts may fix the issue, I would have tried that first.

As for the HG. I got one from Toyota. It's a multi-layer steel head gasket (MLS). It is quite a lot beefier/heavier compared to the original composite head gasket that came from factory. I should have taken a comparison photo of the two...
