What kind of mpg does the troopy get with a 2f

With the 4 speed it should get 20 MPG if you read the specs (19.7 if my kilometers to miles calculation is correct) however I think it gets about 16-17 but this one rarely sees freeways mostly round town.

It does drive OK on the free ways and will do 110 kph about 68mph with out trouble.

That Troopy has a dash from a 1983. What is the number on the compliance plate?

The dash is original, My HJ47 has the old school /traditional dash..

I have seen this dash in 82 as well. I can check the compliance plate when I am back from New Years Trip..

Sorry, that is not an original 1981 dash. It's a very common mod done in Australia tho -swapping in a later dash.

Hey Buddy I double checked and when you remove the front cover the dash has not been cut and upon checking with my Toyota Mechanic he pointed out that the FJ45 has the door switches which came with the upgraded dash and are not easy to add so I guess this time you are wrong. He did point out that US did not get door switches until 82.. I can post the compliance plate if you want details.

The car got sold to the second person who looked at it only because the first guy could not get the cash quick enough..

Well, I would suggest it is likely that the dash was replaced, so when you pulled the dash cover plate nothing looked unusual. Swapping in a dash is not a huge job. My own truck (an '82) came with a portion of the later-style dash that had been swapped in, albeit crudely, the original dash sliced up in the middle and the inserted piece just tack-welded in four corners.

The door switches were used in Oz from 1980 onward I do believe, and in the US from in '82~'83, so I don't think that is any particular indicator in regards to the dash.

If you can find another truck of the same year (1982) with that style dash as original, I'd be very surprised.

Here are some pictures of the dash that was stitched into place on my truck by the PO - not done very elegantly, but anyone with reasonable welding skills could have done the dash conversion pretty cleanly. I cut the entire firewall off and replaced it with a LHD firewall, so I have some idea what's involved in welding in a different dash.

Maybe we need to be asking more money for ours, it seems to make them sell quicker!

Next one clears Customs in a few days...

Some people seem time like the troopys over the Bj's also the 2F has tons more power for city driving. Diesels are good but they are not the fastest can around town..
