I have been drooling over these forums for a couple of years now and thought someone might be interested in my old girl as I am thinking of selling sometime soon.

I am the second owner of this vehicle, the original owner purchased it new and sold it to me in 2007. The truck is in very good original condition and has lived in the inland Australian region of Canberra until last year - which goes some way to explaining the lack of rust in the vehicle.

I have original receipts for underbody rustproofing done when the car was new and in the mid 80's. I also have receipts/manuals for the "Warn" hubs, "All Car" air conditioning and 8000lb Thomas PTO winch in addition to the original owners and repair manuals. The truck has been serviced every 5000 km at the same garage near Canberra until I moved to Sydney last year (28 yrs!!) and now I use a reputable mechanic in Sydney who has had a good look over the vehicle and serviced it since. The radiator was recently refurbished. There are a few minor things that need doing ie: tidy up the wiring and a few rubber seals are showing their age, but generally it is in excellent running order.

The vehicle was outfitted by Trakka with a fibreglass pop top that seals perfectly and works well, we replaced the gas struts last year. It has some basic cupboards which work well for camping or are easily removed, a stove/broiler, it is plumbed and wired for a sink (removed recently to gain a bit more usable space in the back). There is a built in water tank, dual long range fuel tanks, heavy duty bullbar, side bars and tow bar, driving/spot lights, dual batteries and air conditioning. Miscellaneous items such as snow chains, towing equipment, Hi Lift jack are included in the sale if required. The tyres are in as new condition.

The vehicle has done 407411 km (253153 mi) 99% of which has been on graded or sealed roads. We have taken it camping up the East Coast of Australia to Cairns last year and enjoyed this truck very much but now moving to the inner city and finding parking for this beast is no longer an option. I would love to see someone look after this truck and give it the respect it deserves. I am asking AU$ 9000 or best offer. Feel free to ask questions or request more images. Cheers.

 truck!

Does the top pop up (If so, any pics of it when being used, inside and outside?)

Also, does it hav the 2H in it?
And what kind of mileage does it get?

And yeah, any additional pics would help out any potential buyers.

I was hell bent(?) on getting one of these from OZ a while ago, but for some reason talked myself out of it!

Another question that might help potential buyers is whether you would be willing to ship this overseas, probably particularly to the US. If so, do you have any experience in doing it or know someone who might be able to assist you in doing so, etc...

Good luck!!

Just trying to get the images small enough to upload. Yes, the top pops up - see images to follow. There is a "double bed" up top, we usually throw our swag up there and sleep very comfortably.

It has the original 2H in it, which is going strong. Highway mileage is pretty good... I'll have to check my fuel records from the last trip to see exactly how thirsty it is.

I thought I would see who, if anyone, was interested and then deal with the shipping issue. I would be happy to facilitate shipping if required. We have just shipped out some personal stuff from the U.S. and have relatives in the states, so it's definitely an option.

please post up interior pics of the roof open and the bed.
this is one truck I'd love to own! how do we get it to california?

I have one of those trakka poptops here that I imported and it is the shiz. I've been redoing some of the work from the PO, but I love it. Two adults sleep quite well up top. With the bed planks out of the way, at 5'10" I can almost stand completely upright with the top up. Lots of interior options--mine was originally set with a 12/240v fridge, dual water tanks, 2 burner stove, sink and cupboards in the rear. The front half of the jump seats was set up to seat at the table or lay the table across between the seats with a cushion so my kids (younguns) can sleep across the seats.

The Trakka design is the best I've seen on 40-series troopies. Others are designed to allow standing room inside, this is designed for the overhead sleeping as well as standing room. The design is also very weatherproof and nearly impossible to leak with the top down. On 75 series troopies the Trakka design pivots up from the rear, which is an improvement because you can then attach a roof rack to it.

This looks like a beauty of a rig. Only downside is the weak USD these days. No idea how to get to Kalifornia, though other states should be easy.

Good luck with the sale, looks much cleaner than mine.

Can either of you that have the pop tops (original poster or last commenter) send me some pictures of how the top pops? I am thinking of building a custom one for my 44.

Thanks!

As David said, it is the exchange that is going to kill you right now. I agree thought that the Trakka is the best top out there.

Do you have any photos of the body to show rust? Has it been re-painted? Thanks!

Josh

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the Trakka top is very snug fitting and it's pretty spacious when the roof is up. I am over 6" and get around without trouble. The bed itself is not sophisticated, but we bought a double swag (heavy canvas bedroll with a foam mattress) and when you are you are up in bed it feels very comfortable. Sleeping soundly with rain falling on the roof is pretty special too. It sounds pretty similar to your setup David, fridge, stove , sink etc. it has an electrical socket on the outside for hooking up to a powered camping site and overriding the batteries. Flouro lights up in the roof.

Bear with me, I'll have to take a few more pics of the interior of the roof on the weekend and post them up.

As far as the paint goes, it is original and in pretty good condition, the usual small chips here and there. I try to keep the wax up to it when I have time. The rust is only cosmetic, but there are a few small patches. I will take a bunch of detailed photos and post up an album this weekend.

Thanks again for the interest. More images at the end of the week. Cheers, Eliot.
