Sold rusted running FJ40.
Tub and everything on it is still for sale! $4000. I might part out big stuff it I get some interest, but would rather sell it as is.
I can't believe I'm doing this but here goes for now. I bought the 1981 with factory air and p/s even though the tub is rusted out because it runs out great and is very tight with only 81,000 original miles. P/S pump is in excellent shape with no leaks. The P/S gearbox does leak but I have an OEM gearbox rebuilt kit in hand (one of the last 2 kits in existence according to cruiser dan). Air is intack but will need to be charged. Aftermarket top in excellent condition. The main issue is the tub was rusted out.

Now for the good part. I found a near perfect tub about 4 months after I bought the 1st '81. It has a complete drivetrain (motor would have to be rebuilt but everything else works perfect) brakes still worked when I rolled it off the trailer. It has been wrecked and will require a couple of hundred dollars on a frame machine to pull it back completely square. It has no title. As you can see from the link below, there is practically no rust. It is the best original unmolested tub I have ever seen or heard of, not to mention all the other parts it has. As you can see from the links I am building a 1977 Sky Blue FJ40 and could use the money to finish the blue project. I also have all the parts to make a complete hardtop for the 1981.
I will take $7500 cash for both 81's and components to complete the hardtop as well as a set of 5 perfect white OEM wheels. Call 256.654.1315 if you have questions. I can supply transportation for a reasonable donation for fuel. Located in North Alabama close to Huntsville, AL.
