**I am bringing this back up. I had some interest back in June, but had changed my mind thinking I would get more time on it. Not the case and its time to move on from it. All the specs on it have not changed, although I would be open to trades of something DD able, 4runner, 80, but you never know. Not looking for a project, needs to be able to be driven with little work.**
1979 HJ45 Troopy. Top off currently. Asking $8000 obo. ($7k without the tires and wheels) I bought this Aussie gem 3ish years ago and my rebuild has moved at a snails pace. I had big plans but have little time to follow through on them. Overall the troopy runs great. I drive it weekly and it spent sometime as my daily driver in the fall. Performed great on the 34 mile round trip run. Its not a great highway ride...4spd.. I have done a fair amount of work, but this is by no means a turn key truck.
The truck needs much electrical attention. The system had been fairly hacked before I got it and I have done little to it. Most of the electrics work, just needs to be straightened up.
The body does need attention in a few spots. The rear has some holes, but is not a total loss. The troopy top sides need a lot of work to be repaired. They are fixable, but they are the worst in my opinion. The raingutter is junk, but I have one from ccot to be installed.
The frame is unbelieveable! Cleanest cruiser frame I have ever seen. That's what sold me on her in the first place.
Engine, I replaced a few freeze plugs, thermostat housing, fan, glow plugs, belts, fliters, and several other things. The Alternator has been rebuilt as well as the starter. Its runs solid and has been outstanding. The exhaust needs some work.
Suspension, currently the 2 of the spring packs have a broken leaf or 2 in them. I have a set of OME 2 1/2 to replace them, including shocks. You will need shackles to fit them, but its all there.
Tires, what came with it I still have. It rolled in on 60 series wheel and tall skinny bridgestones(AU versions) and one split rim as the spare. I bought 5 BFG KM2 33X10.5's and rock rims. They are included in the price. If you don't want them I will drop the price $1000 to $7000 obo.
I could go on with everything but if you are interested let me know and I will continue on, but I think you get the idea. The bottom line, this is a great base for a great project, I am just disappointed I have not been able to finish it... By the way the truck is located in Eastern MA.
This is how she looked upon arrival minus the bumper and some minor clean up.
Couple of more recent pics.
